Axle Tube Seals

Replace those Factory Dust Guards

February, 2007

The wheel has to come off so I will block the rear wheels, jack up the front end and rest it on a jack stand. Because I'll be spreading the brake caliper a bit to make it easy to remove, I will open the brake fluid reservoir and make sure it isn't too full. This will also remind me to make sure the reservoir is full when I'm done.

With the wheel removed, I can remove the 2 brake caliper mounting bolts that hold it in place. I like to spread the caliper a bit to make it easier to remove it. It also makes it easier to put everything back together, later. Usually, you can just wiggle the caliper back and forth until it comes free. DO NOT PRY AGAINST THE ROTOR.

It's not a good idea to let the caliper hang by the brake lines. I use some Zip-Ties to support it and keep it out of harm's way.
